First, you'll need your SOT (Special Occupational Tax) to deal in NFA firearms. Getting your SOT is easy - just pay the ATF $500 by filling out ATF Form 5630.7 on Pay.gov. You'll need your FFL and an EIN. The ATF will mail you your SOT in a couple of weeks. You can find the full ATF instructions for Form 5630.7 here. Once you have your SOT, you'll need a way to capture customer fingerprints and submit ATF eForms - that's where 10Scan comes in. It's the easiest way to get started. 10Scan handles the entire process: LiveScan fingerprint capture, photo, ATF eForm auto-fill, and submission. From customer walk-in to submitted eForm in about 10 minutes, all from a single Windows device.
Yes. 10Scan generates ATF-compliant EFT files and is fully FBI Appendix F compliant for fingerprint capture. All generated files meet the standards required for NFA eForm submission.

Yes! 10Scan allows you to import, crop, and convert an FD-258 ink fingerprint card to a valid EFT file necessary for NFA eForms. Simply scan the card on any 600+ DPI flatbed scanner and upload the image.
10Scan includes a built-in customer mode that you can set up on any Windows PC or touch screen tablet. It comes with all the necessary tools to let customers complete their own fingerprint capture, photo, and driver's license scan, then quickly process and complete ATF eForms.
A Windows PC or tablet (touch screen recommended) running Windows 10 or 11 with an Intel/AMD x64 or x86 CPU, Core i5 or better, 8GB RAM, and 100GB of available storage. A pen/signature pad is required (available for purchase). Most dealers reuse the same tablet or PC they use for their electronic 4473 or range software. We can also provide you a tablet for an additional cost. Note: ARM or Snapdragon CPUs (found in some newer Surface Pros) are not supported.
Each scan credit powers one EFT fingerprint file generation. The Retail license includes 5 free credits per month. Additional credits are $10 each. The Unlimited license includes unlimited scans with no credit usage.
